📰 The Local Rundown
⚽ Southlake's North Park Is Getting a $6.4M Makeover

If your kids play ball at North Park, you may have noticed the fences going up. Southlake is in the middle of a $6.4 million renovation there that converts the park's three fields to artificial turf and adds a lot more parking, according to Community Impact. Work started Sept. 21, and the city expects to finish in early 2027.
This is the last stage of a turf conversion the city has already done at Bob Jones Park and Bicentennial Park. The new fields get better drainage and a shock pad underneath for softer landings, plus new fencing and safety netting on the north and south ends. A new 152-space lot brings the park to 286 parking spaces, with more lighting and landscaping along the way.
The park itself stays open during construction, though some areas and parts of the sidewalk loop are closed. The city says it is working with affected leagues, so some fall play has moved: Lady Dragon Lacrosse is using the Southlake Sports Complex, and city flag football is running at Bob Jones Park. Southlake community services director David Miller said the big payoff is being able to practice and play soon after heavy rain, since turf fields can be used for multiple sports.

🥖 A Grapevine Bakery Turns 30
BreadHaus has been baking European-style bread in Grapevine since 1996, and it's throwing itself a birthday party. The bakery will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 24, with giveaways through the day: a commemorative tote for the first 30 guests and free BreadHaus bread for a year for one customer, according to Community Impact, citing the bakery's social media.
It started on Main Street as Wildflower Baking Co. under Mark and Petra Lively, took the BreadHaus name in 2000 after moving to its Dallas Road home, and has been owned by Bryan and Fara Motta since June 2024. Expect naturally leavened sourdoughs, rye breads, rolls, cookies and pretzels made without commercial yeast or preservatives.
BreadHaus | 700 W. Dallas Rd., Grapevine | Tue-Sat 9 AM-4 PM, closed Sun-Mon
