📚 Southlake's Library Turns 25

Twenty-five years ago this fall, Southlake Public Library opened inside Town Hall. The city and library staff have been marking the milestone all year, and two easy ways to join in are still open.

One is a community memory quilt. Stop by during regular hours, pick up a paper square, draw or write a favorite library memory, and drop it in the basket. Finished squares go up on a growing wall display. The other is a limited-edition 25th Birthday Library card at the customer service desk, available for new sign-ups and upgrades over the next year.

The library sits at 1400 Main St., Suite 130, on the first floor of Town Hall. It is closed Friday, Oct. 16, and Saturday, Oct. 17, for Oktoberfest at Town Square, and it is also closed Sundays, so plan on Monday or later in the week. Library cards are free for Southlake residents, Carroll ISD students, parents and staff, city employees and local business owners; others can buy a year of access for $40, according to the library.

🍦 Sol Dias Wins H-E-B's Quest for Texas Best | Watauga shops

A family-owned Mexican ice cream company with shops in Watauga just took the top prize in H-E-B's Quest for Texas Best. Sol Dias, founded in 2020 by Victor and Stacey Garcia and based in Haltom City, won the $50,000 grand prize for its fruit paletas and earned a spot on H-E-B freezer shelves across Texas, the Fort Worth Report reported.

The company makes paletas, ice cream, sorbets and churros from recipes rooted in Mexticacán, Jalisco. Around here, you can visit two Watauga shops: 8004 Denton Hwy., Suite 154, and a newer spot at 6245 Rufe Snow Dr., Suite 120 (both list hours as 10 AM-11 PM daily on the company's site). There are also shops in Haltom City and Irving, with a Northside Fort Worth location listed as coming in spring 2027.
