📰 The Local Rundown

🏆 Colleyville Tops the Area in a National Small-City Ranking

If you already suspected you live somewhere pretty great, WalletHub's numbers agree. The personal finance site's 2026 ranking of the best small cities in America compared more than 1,300 cities with 25,000 to 100,000 residents, and several of our communities landed well up the list.

Colleyville scored in the 85th percentile nationally, the best showing in the Fort Worth area, as CultureMap Fort Worth noted. Southlake came in at the 82nd percentile, Keller at the 72nd, Grapevine at the 61st and North Richland Hills at the 48th. WalletHub grades each city on 45 measures of livability, grouped into affordability, economic health, education and health, quality of life, and safety.

No Texas city made the top tier, the 99th percentile, which went to places like Lexington, Massachusetts, and Carmel, Indiana. Smaller towns along the line, like Westlake, Trophy Club and Roanoke, fall under the study's 25,000-resident cutoff, so they aren't ranked.

🇺🇸 Colleyville Veterans Can Pick Up a Free Yard Sign

Veterans Day is Wednesday, Nov. 11, and Colleyville is giving the veterans who live here a way to mark it from the front yard.

The city is offering free commemorative lawn signs to any Colleyville resident who has served in the U.S. military, and Gold Star families can pick one up to honor a loved one. Signs are available on weekdays on the third floor of City Hall, 100 Main St., in the City Manager's Office. Bring proof of residency.

The city hasn't given an end date for the program, and questions can go to [email protected].

🍽️ Local Table 🍽️

🔜 Coming Soon: Volstead | 320 S. Oak St., Roanoke

Volstead, the Prohibition-themed bar and kitchen in Southlake, is planning a second location on Oak Street in Roanoke. Restaurateur Dave Coussirat took over The Rô on Oak, a cocktail lounge at 320 S. Oak St., on Sept. 10 and plans to rebrand it as Volstead, Community Impact reports.

On Oct. 13, the Roanoke City Council approved a façade grant for the building. City documents put the exterior work at about $33,000, with the city reimbursing $15,000, for a new outdoor seating area along Oak Street, decorative sconces, updated window signage and an illuminated corner sign facing Oak and Crockett streets.

Coussirat told Community Impact that construction starts the third week of October, with plans to open this fall. He said the Roanoke spot will add tables so it can serve lunch and dinner every day, with a menu that mirrors Southlake's. No opening date has been announced yet.
